Day 2 in Amsterdam

We packed a lot in today : we strolled along the canals and streets past delightful shops including a cheese monger . The Dutch are very keen on the character ‘ Miffy’ - there were Miffies everywhere including this large Delft one ! We had a coffee near the flower market but we headed for the quirky ‘House Boat Museum ‘ - it showed the insides of examples from many houseboats in Amsterdam . This one had been inhabited until recently . It really evoked the traditions special to the place .
Afterwards we had a full on afternoon at the Van Gogh Museum which was wonderful and retold his rather tragic life through his paintings . We were both incredibly moved by it and were indeed teary .
Our poor feet were exhausted, so after refuelling in the museum cafe where you ordered on your mobile via an app, we finished the day with another much longer 2 hour canal cruise which covered the Am River too . We really enjoyed it and it was fine weather which was a bonus !
