Finished the two books I got for a euro each in Ayamonte: Notwithstanding, by Louis de Bernières, which we both loved - tales of the characters in an English village, some hilarious, some heart-wrenching, and
The Lollipop Shoes, by Joanne Harris, a sequel to Chocolat - quite dark, but a happy ending.
And now onto Intermezzo by Sally Rooney - can see why it's popular, but not really my sort of book, good insight into how young folk think nowadays, though.
It's frustrating having to read what I can find here, not what I'd choose, but probably good that I end up reading more widely than I would otherwise.
Gratefuls:
- Mike managing to get the car to our mechanic in Reguengos, hopefully he'll be able to find the problem...
- some lovely news from home
- leftover quince crunch with our afternoon mug of tea
