Our Very Own Apples
It may look like everyday green apples but to my husband and me it is the start of our very own apples. Yes, in our very own yard. We started these at least five years ago and this is the first year to show any sign of a crop. The apples are Honey Crisp and the starts were given to us from a field that was going to be planted into something else. We planted and watered and waited. For several years there would just be blooms and one or two poor little apples that were eaten by the deer passing through the yard. My husband got more aggressive about keeping the deer out (he did not shoot them) and this year we might even have some apples to eat or enough for a pie. But I think they made a pretty picture at sunset with the sun striking the trees behind the apples.
