A Boat Graveyard
Today we walked some more of The Cinder Track that featured yesterday on Blip. We drove to Stainsacre and parked up near the track and then walked the two miles to the ‘end of the line’ near Whitby town centre.
The track goes across the spectacular Larpool viaduct…see extra 1 …and from the top I spotted this collection of derelict boats at the side of the river below.
We walked around the town, down to the beach by the harbour, but the tide was high, so there wasn’t much to walk on.
We visited the lobster hatchery museum … which was a bargain at £4..some fabulous aquarium displays and enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff..see extra 2 for one of the fishy characters…I can’t remember what it is called, but I loved its face!! The colours are all over the place because of the lighting…but it appeared to be white!
Fish and chips / fish pie were consumed for lunch..before the trek back to the car.
We totalled another 8 miles today - that is 24 in 3 days.
