Happy Thanksgiving one and all

To Kanata for Thanksgiving dinner. Got the inevitable 9am call with last minute panics about food – this time, however, it was telling us that dinner had shifted from 5pm to 2pm… as Mrs. Ottawacker’s relatives from the south were heading back late afternoon. Fortunately, we are experienced in such matters and Mrs. Ottawacker had prepared the pumpkin pies already.

Arrived at J&T’s around 11:30 to find the turkey cooking along and everyone sitting playing cards. It was a lovely, relaxing day; the food was excellent and people were all on good form. Even Ottawacker Jr. managed to rein in the coughing (until around 10:30, I wasn’t sure whether he and I would attend; the last thing we wanted to do was infect the whole family with the lurgey).

Post-dinner, we played Hearts, where Ottawacker Jr. managed to win the last hand by claiming all the points. This was not enough, however, to win the game. Still, sometimes the depth of the Ottawacker Jr. cunning startles me. Still no family conversations about the Sundridge house.
