Sassafras Grass
Tuesday 15 October
It was really quite chilly today, made worse by a cold wind. So it was a good day for indoor activities. We drove down town for Music Live at Lunch at Christ Church cathedral. Today it was a band named Sassafras Grass, playing a mixture of Blues, Swing and Bluegrass. They had a good sound, with the two women and the bass player on vocals, and the other two guys playing banjo and Dobro guitar. We didn’t have lunch there, but instead went on to the Art museum and had lunch in their cafe before looking at their special exhibition, Discovering Ansel Adams. The exhibition provides an exploration into the early career of Ansel Adams (1902-1984), demonstrating how, between 1916 he developed from a 14-year old tourist with a camera, visiting Yosemite with his family, into America’s most celebrated photographer. The exhibition brings together about 80 photographs, some small, others full size, along with unique material including the artists handwritten correspondence, snapshots, personal possessions and photographic working materials.
On our way home, we did the most important thing of our day, stopping by the Cincinnati Board of Elections, where they started early voting on October 8, and cast our votes for Harris and Walz. I’m beside myself with fear and worry about the election. It seems like every morning I get up and read some new dreadful thing Trump has said or done. I fail to understand how about half of this country has been duped and hoodwinked by him.
I’ve posted another three blips today - scroll back if you have time!
