Afternoon Tea
We leave Meols, waving goodbye but knowing we’ll see the little family again on Friday when we meet in Norfolk.
The journey down to Nantwich - via Cheshire Oaks - is dire as we drive through rain of deluge proportions. There’s so much water on the road aquaplaning is a real danger and spray reduces visibility.
We’re heading for Rookery Hall where our cruise agency has arranged another of their champagne afternoon tea presentations. I’m wearing a very long black cardigan, which foolishly I’ve managed to get caught in the car door, so on arrival I find it’s picked up the torrential rainfall and autumn debris from the roads. It’s soaking wet and mucky - basically unwearable - so my planned ‘elegance’ is somewhat lessened.
Still, it’s a very pleasant afternoon followed by our overnight stay in this lovely hotel. It has a fabulous spa, but at the moment, it’s something I can’t take advantage of.
Having taken only one photo today, my blip is of my personal afternoon tea offering - having asked for ‘Gluten Free Vegetarian’. I’m impressed by the quality, and even more impressed that it arrived at my place with nobody asking my name! It would look better on a tiered plate - as the case with the ‘normal’ teas, but it really is delicious - and unsurprisingly I can’t eat it all!
