Diary of an Edinburgher

Where’s Archie??

I was due for a blood test today - a request that arrived in my prescriptions last week. So I duly turned up, only to find that the nurse was puzzled as to why I was there, as I'd had a whole blood test a couple of months ago, and everything was OK. In fact, my cholesterol levels were GOOD! She went and asked a doctor, and it seems to have been a mistake. The kind of mistake I don't mind.

I'd taken Archie with me, reasoning that I'm in and out with a blood test (though that wasn't strictly true today). He did bark a bit (he's tied up outside) and I pretended he didn't belong to me...

The surgery is opposite the cemetery, so he insisted, not unreasonably, on popping in there, as it was such a nice morning. We met Heidi, a little hairy schnauzer who was just off for a haircut, but there was nobody else there. It's so nice in the mornings.

JR and Chrissy, one of her gym buddies, were home when we got back. Chrissy has just spent a couple of weeks in Spain, where it was unusually warm, in the 30s some days, so she's quite glad to be back to an acceptable 15°.

Yesterday's drama of the Vietnam visa took us so long because they kept rejecting the passport photo, saying the file was too large. The only way I know to reduce the megapixels (without dedicated software) is to email it to myself and choose 'small, medium or large'. This has been adequate for my uses up till now.

When eventually we succeeded, there were still problems... like - 'entry airport'. All the airports were listed. BUT - we're entering at a seaport. Fortunately, JR had been in to the travel agent last week and they had found out the name of the seaport we arrive in, which was not straightforward. Also, was it a single entry or a multiple entry... we sail between ports, but we sail in Vietnamese waters, so technically we’re not leaving the country. Or are we? But the visa will take a few days to arrive. I think we'll crack open a bottle of bubbly once it's safely in our clutches.

JR and Archie went down to their favourite shop to pick up an item. They have a big bowl of doggie treats on the counter, and Archie rushes into the shop even more enthusiastically than his mistress.

I was going to start sorting out my cruise wardrobe this afternoon.

But I'd didn't.
