Bus Tour - Day 4

Absolutely amazingly, I have made it home to Edinburgh on time - via 3 buses today - and yet again, without a single transport-hitch!

Hats-off to CityLink & StageCoach; I've travelled the length of Scotland, by [free] bus, and every single connection has been flawless :-))

And I've had yet another, thoroughly enjoyable day - weather has been good - with my schedule looking something like this:

- an early breakfast at my Dunnet accommodation
- then the short walk to the 'Dunnet Corner' bus-stop, where I picked up the local StageCoach 80 bus, which took me along to Castleown
- had a bit of time to explore Castletown: the 'Flagstone Village', so wandered down to the old flagstone works
- there's a "flagstone trail" (around a mile-and-a-half), which I was able to walk round
- the trail had both interesting [old] industrial buildings, and a very picturesque small harbour :-)
- I then caught the StageCoach X99 bus back down to Inverness
- had time to eat my pre-prepared packed lunch, and grab a coffee, at the Bus Station; all before catching my final CityLink M90 bus home to Edinburgh :-)
- arrived in Edinburgh on time, and walked home - partly along my favourite canal! - back to our Shandon flat
- dinner was waiting for me :-))

Remain short of 'extras' so here is yet another collage of today's journey, which shows (top left first):

- snap of the 'Dunnet Corner' bus shelter, taken at dawn, and where I picked up the 80 bus
- another entry-sign to Castletown, this one declaring its "flagstone village" status!
- a piece of the industrial heritage on the 'flagstone trail', all of which was on the coastal-edge of the village
- the trail led along to the local harbour which, as you can see, had a couple of small boats moored up. And near here, is where I joined the X99 back down to Inverness.
- the inevitable snap of Inverness Bus Station
- and one of my final "Bus Station destination" ... Edinburgh :-)

Has been the most enjoyable few days - am so glad I made the time to undertake this 'end-to-end' bus tour; I have loved every minute of it ...

... and along with our 'coast to coast' walk in April, it's all meant I've been somewhat immersed in Scotland this year: & what's not to like about that :-))

No buses tomorrow - we're off to Stoke-on-Trent, by car, to visit friends for the weekend!
