The surprise birthday party

 
Last night we attended a surprise birthday party for artist Lys Hansen.
 It was such a surprise that one guest, M, didn’t know he was invited.
 
A frantic call home and he dropped everything and joined the party. 
 Unfortunately, he forgot about the chicken in the oven. Halfway through the meal he leaned across and whispered:

“I’ve left the chicken in the oven.”
Another frantic call this time to a neighbour with a key to our house. She rushed down retrieved the chicken, now well done, and turned the oven off. Phew!
We could have come home to a real fire.
