Moonstruck
The rather spookily colourful image in the extra (10 seconds in night mode on an iPhone) was taken at midnight. The shadow of the tree is cast by the bright full moon, and the lights in the distance are over Oxford. The more subdued main photo is 8 hours later just before the fog rose up from the valley and swallowed the moon before it set.
Once the fog cleared it was a beautiful day. We worked hard pruning trees and shrubs and rewarded ourselves with a glass of wine on a bench in the sunshine at the edge of the woods. There were muntjac and squirrels rooting for beech nuts, and butterflies sunning themselves on the leaves: 3 Red Admirals, 2 Speckled Woods, 1 Brimstone and 1 Large White - more than I have see in one place all Summer!
