Mates Dates

Work was incredibly quiet today, which was nice as it gave me the opportunity to make a new friend.

Our children know each other and we had seen each other around, but never really spoken until a mutual friend, aware of both of our dating disasters, suggested that we get together to share our stories with each other. So over a hot chocolate, we did and the next two hours promptly evaporated in a hail of failed romances and laughter (the two not unconnected). The title for this blip is unashamedly stolen from her.

Eventually I did have to return to work and got some dinner down me (perhaps with a couple more episodes of Shrinking) before heading off to collect my parents as I was treating them to some tickets to see ayearinthelife play Lord Melchett in Blackadder II at the Lancaster Grand.

Mr C was excellent in the role and the three episodes (Head, Potato and Chains) popped along at pace with the near 40-year old (Blackadder II is almost 40!!!) jokes hitting their mark with us, the audience.

Proceedings were over before 10pm, which meant that I had driven home, dropped the ‘rents off and was in bed with a sleepy time brew and biscuit by 10.30pm.

Great day and a lovely start to the weekend.
