NYMR - NORTH YORKSHIRE MOORS RAILWAY PICKERING

Not a great night's sleep, I was tired enough got a bit of a cough and I think just the first night in a strange bed, I often get like that.  Hopefully it will be better tonight.  We weren't planning on going far today anyway.

Well it was persistingly raining this morning but by 11 am it had started to stop.  I wasn't feeling too bad, so suitably dressed up and drugged up (and masked) we ventured out.  It's only a 15 minute walk to Pickering Station.  I also did my 2nd covid test in the last 4 days, to be on the safe side, and both were all clear - phew!!!

I just couldn't believe how lucky we were.  I expected to get to the stationand was prepared to hang around in the cafe to see a train.   Well turned into the entrance and toot toot - immediately an engine was coming our way in full steam.  Luckily the camera was arond my neck so I just kept pointing and clicking - these are three of the best ones I think.

So at least I will have seen the steam trains - yeah.  If I can managed to trip actually on the train this week and a  visit to Whitby then that will be enough. I'd planned to do a lot more, but will just have to adjust accordingly and manage what I can.

It started raining again so not wanting to risk anything else with my health we jut went to the cafe  for some lunch.  It's all served as takeaways, although you can sit in and eat. I had a really delicious ham and cheese toastie, with excellent ham and beautifully made.  Hubby had a pasty which he said he thought it was home-made and was delicious.

So we popped into the shop and I bought a couple of things.  We were going to go to The Beck Isle Museum but by now I was feeling clammy and woozy again so we headed to The Co-op for food for tonight anda few bits and pieces for the week. I left hubby go do that whilst I came back for lay down.  So glad I did.

Met a lovely friend who  was visiting her parents who live in Pickering, which I never knew.  She didn't stay long and kept her distance and I was masked to be sure.

I did catch up on your blips yesterday.  I will try and do so again sometime today, but please do forgive me if I'm a bit lax due to not feeling well plus supposedly being on holiday!!!!   The bungalow is very comfortable at least so that is good.

Do take care everyone and stay safe and I will see  you all tomorrow.  We will be hunkering down as it's supposed to be very wet and windy.  I've booked a table at a farm cafe for Sunday Lunch, just two minutes drive away so hopefully we will make that.  Then it's "supposed" to be not too be for the rest of our time here.
