A Rainy Day In Pickering

The weather had certainly changed this morning, the lovely sunny autumn weather replaced by grey and wet (very wet).

Returning home after our little ‘holiday’, we stopped at Pickering for coffee and we happened to be there when a steam train service was about to depart. I nipped up to the station, but only had my phone with me.

The driver and fireman appear to be unperturbed by the weather -  you can see the rain against the black paint of the loco. This is loco number 65894, LNER number 2392. If you really want to be nerdy you can read about its history here… trust me, I have read it :-)

Added an extra today showing the water beading on the oily/painted surfaces over the wheels.

We then stopped at Helmsley (still raining) and had some very welcome soup for lunch.

By the time we got home the sun was shining again!
