Stellar Coaster

Slept late this morning, the travel and the time changes are still catching up to me. So late that I almost made Nina late to her 10:15 soccer match. We made it just in time and she had a stellar game. They managed to eek out a win thanks to a penalty kick and stay in the playoffs.
In the afternoon we went to the state fair to meet up with Ashton and his girlfriend. An aside for those of you who know Ashton and the gender stuff he was going through, over the past year he has slowly shifted from they/them to he/him. As a parent it has been an often confusing ride but we’ve opted to support him and prioritize our relationship over whatever identity choices he might make. I’m glad we have chosen that path, and I think I’ve certainly grown from it.
Back to the fair, we brought one of Nina’s friends and she was not amused at the roller coaster ride. Apparently she thought she was going to die, so that ended the night at about 7pm. I had looked forward to beers and sausages and various fried types of dough. Maybe next time.
