Ready for next spring

In the midst of an ever deepening autumn signs of spring can be found. Today’s blip was going to be of wet autumn leaves until Susan spotted this bud for next year. At least, we think that’s what it is.

We escaped the worst of Ashley today. If you suffered from its fury we hope you came through unscathed. It was a typical unpleasant autumn day here. Dull, dank, wet and generally the sort of day not to be outside.

Outside we were though. First I went to the allotment to see the Community Payback Scheme people who worked valiantly in the conditions to dig up tree roots and remove trees and vegetation.

After coming back for breakfast we walked around the village in search of a blip. This is the best of what we found.

Not done much this afternoon. I played the uke and Susan was in her studio pondering over this year’s Christmas card.

Thank you for trying to identify the berries and tree from Friday. May be a whitebeam?
