Brian Clough - Nottingham
Looked out of the window to see rain but as it was warm decided that it was best to brave the weather and run Long Eaton parkrun without waterproofs; a good decision. A bit damp so some puddle dodging and congestion at the start and prior to the start line, but an enjoyable run amongst the autumnal trees. A good 2 lap tarmac course, well signed and super-friendly marshals. In fact the first time for a while that I have been able to run hard at a parkrun as holidays, illness and family commitments have conspired to prevent it, so I was pleased with my 31:18 time.
After a wash and change we went on the tram to the city of Nottingham to explore. A lovely breakfast at The Vault before continuing our walk where we saw the Brian Clough statue, eventually finding a goth pub named Pit and Pendulum, with so much character. We stayed for the afternoon, and after a few drinks, moved on to eat a Caribbean meal at Turtle Bay. We both agreed that Nottingham has a lot to offer.
