Apple Pressing Day

Today has been taken up with pressing the apples from the trees in the allotment.  My Blip is of Tony bringing down the first wheelbarrow full.  Like all processing it is a labour intensive job.  The apples are washed, chopped, crushed and then pressed twice.  The juice is strained and bottled.  The Egremont Russets have had a lean year, probably having a rest, whereas the Adams Permain have had a good year.

On our first run we had an issue of the straining bag caught up in the crusher teeth and in manoeuvring the heavy machine, Tony ended up cricking his back so that was him out of the process for the remainder of the day.  Thankfully, it seems to be easing in the evening.

Total for this year: 13 Litres of Apple Juice

Sorry, no commenting tonight, shattered.
