The Pioneers
Monument at Glen Sligachan.
Professor Norman Collie and John Mackenzie are credited with creating many of the routes across the Cuillins on Skye. One of the most famous, or infamous is Collie’s Ledge on Sgurr Mhic Choinnich.
Anyone wanting the bejesus scaring out of them, there are plenty of videos of it on YouTube to watch!
A great day starting off with coffee in Broadford, then a drive up the road to Sligachan Bridge to see Skye’s most famous hills. Whilst there, Sal bagged another couple of Turf Zones.
Then it was back down to Broadford and along the single track road to Elgol. The weather started off pretty foul but kept on improving as we neared our destination.
Elgol is home to one of Scotland’s finest views. The Cuillin Hills from the shores of Loch Scavaig are absolutely breathtaking.
I came here last year but as the weather was pretty rubbish, Sal stopped in the cottage to do some craft. I’m so glad she came with me this year.
We were both well impressed with how the weather turned out and with the view.
An evening spent relaxing and watching footy.
