Before and during
We started working on a new property today, the garden has been neglected for several years. I was talking to the next door neighbor today, she said that nothing had been done for about 10 years. The owner lives out of province and has the house rented out thru a property management company. The property management company contacted me to take a look at it and given them a price for cleaning up the gardens. From what the neighbor told me, the owner was here for a visit in the summer and she freaked out over the condition of the gardens.
So far I have hauled 2 truckloads of debris out of there and have a third one to do tomorrow. The mulch has been delivered so there will be no waiting around tomorrow for deliveries. I just hope that traffic isn't as bad tomorrow morning, It took me over an hour to get there this morning. When I looked at Google maps about 20 minutes before I left it said it was a 38 minute drive. Then when I left I heard on the radio that traffic on the MacKay Bridge was backed up so I headed for the Macdonald Bridge, only to find out there was an accident on it, and that was causing traffic to get backed up on the other bridge.
As part of the quote for the job last week I had included soil delivery. E wanted some soil for tomorrow, and she had volunteers available to help with it. The guy I have been using to deliver soil has not been answering his messages this week. So I called another guy today to see if he could do it, and he said he could. I made arrangements for a time so that E could meet him there to show him where to dump it. E sent me some photos of the mess he made. The guy called me after he had dumped the soil, complaining that one of the cables broke on his trailer because he had to do it differently than usual because of the narrow spot. He also complained that the running board on his truck scraped on something, because he is not used to having running boards on his truck. He said he would message me the price but I haven't heard from him. He made a mess of our fresh gravel, so he may not want to talk to me for awhile.
My friend Marilyn was discharged from the hospital today. She really needs some home care for awhile, but she thought she would be alright. She needs a new bed, she needs a walker, and there are some things she cannot do herself. She called me tonight because Steve must have put the bags for the litter locker (she has a cat) in the wrong way and now it's a mess. She can't clean it up herself so she wanted me to do it. I had already put my housecoat on, and it is something that can wait till tomorrow. I think she did give in and was going to let a friend come and spend the night tonight. Jean and I agreed tonight, that both of us will have to be very firm with her, and keep telling her that if she wants to stay in the house, she will have to get some regular help.
