Our first day on the
road was a beauty - sunshine,
blue sky and no fuss!

I was out on my deck at 7 saying good-bye to my mountains. They will have to face winter without me.

We stopped briefly at Monte Lake on Highway 97 to have our breakfast from Tim Horton's - omelette bites and coffee. We motored through to Vernon, then continued south to the border.

I made a stop along the highway beside Vaseux Lake where I took a look into the marshy areas and at the steep hillsides beyond.

We passed orchards and vineyards on both sides of the border. Fruit production and wineries were everywhere. It is a beautiful area overall.

We arrived in Wenatchee, Washington about 3 PM and began to look for a place for an early dinner. My new GPS takes some getting used to but we found our restaurant. We wanted Italian food and it was fabulous.

It was only a drive of some 319 miles/513 kilometres but I am zonked. It will be an early night for me.
