Dentist Surgery or Torture Chamber?
Made another visit to see Rachel, my dentist this morning for part 2 of root canal treatment on a lower back tooth.
Prompted me to ponder - rather tongue in cheek - whether there is much difference between a dentist's surgery and a torture chamber in that -
I had a bright light shone in my face.
A sensitive area was probed with sharp metal objects.
The dentist 'hid' behind a mask and wore gloves.
She drilled and drilled till I had to beg her to stop.
It was a horrible sensory experience in that I could see, hear and smell things I would rather have not.
I was only offered a beaker of water when the procedure finished.
An hour in the dentist's chair and I was ready to confess to anything!
I have to say, I survived the ordeal which appears to have been successful thus far.
Hopefully, I will not need to make a further visit till my next check up in December - fingers crossed, anyway!
