An Elephant day
Jackson, our driver appeared after breakfast & then we set off at 8.00 am to head to Tarangire National Park, about a four hour drive. It was interesting seeing Tanzanian life lived along the roadside, as we skirted around the edge of Arusha, before heading south on the main road. We saw lots of Jacaranda trees in bloom, they are very impressive, but we weren’t stopped in a suitable place to get a decent photo.
A few hair-raising moments with the way some of the drivers overtake.
Before turned off the main road towards Tarangire, I saw some zebra. At the Reserve entrance gates, we were able to get out & use the washroom facilities & see quite a variety of birds, drinking at water pools.
We had a picnic lunch & after a lot of driving through the reserve before arriving at Tarangire Nduvu Lodge. I even managed a short swim before dinner, which was refreshing after a day being “shaken about in the jeep”.
Tarangire is known for it’s elephants, so that’s what I am blipping.
