A house divided.........

I came here today to have my Australian-installed /Swiss-made titanium and ceramic mechanical aortic valve in my heart checked out - a routine procedure, thankfully.
This is the prestigious Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, one of the biggest and busiest teaching hospitals in the country. The campus is being divided in two by the construction of a new tramline - which is going to run high above ground on concrete pillars.
The tube-like construction visible is the main corridor connecting the hospital with its treatment centre. I am reliably informed that the corridor will be taken down and replaced by a tram stop/station with new access corridors to both bits of the medical centre.
Major civil engineering project costing millions of pounds and a fair bit of south city-wide disruption and not to mention life and work in the hospital.
