I do better
I think I'm going to stick with the theme of urban art/graffiti/whatever-you-want-to-call-it, and share a quotation I saw written in chalk on the side of the South Inch pavillion, attributed to Maya Angelou:
“I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.”
I like the sentiment. I hope we all strive to do better, even though we don't always manage it.
I spent the day out and about, walking through the late sunrise and the concomitant birdsong (sunrise will be back to 7-ish next week, with the clock change), treating myself to a leisurely breakfast with far too much coffee, and then mostly being at the library, reading.
I also managed to book a telephone appointment with the nurse, to discuss the health/vaccination implications of my Christmas/New Year travel plans, although it's not for another four weeks, sadly, and only a few weeks before I intend to be travelling. Let's hope that's enough time.
I needed to be back at six for the roughly-monthly video call that I have with my dear friend, and former officemate from my time in Germany, Paula. We had a lot of catch each other up on. She's just moved city, and after training as an academic librarian for the last two years, she's finally started working as one. It was great to see her so positive about it, and smiling a lot.
And with that, I'm knackered.
