The Love of the Creativity of God
A sunny morning developed into an overcast day, but took myself off on the Lula walk for a bit of exercise, and just caught this moment of glory as the sun set. Really hoping we get at least a few raindrops in the night.
Three excitements of the day:
- finding Netty's hire car keys in the bag of goodies she's left for Eden, I could so easily not have looked
- Bengt coming for us to witness his signature, and staying for lunch of leftovers from last night
- best of all, Ju booking for them to come out for a week in November, thrilled
Not so good, the town council has rejected our planning permission because of a slight extension the architect requested, feels so petty.
I have just finished rereading The Supper of the Lamb, A Culinary Reflection, by the episcopalian priest and cook, Robert Farrar Capon, what a pleasure! Realised how influenced I've been by this book. Decided I'll share a quote each Blip instead of my gratefuls, just for a while - because, actually, so grateful for this book.
Today, from the intro by Deborah Madison:
The Supper of the Lamb is a rare, distilling nectar, albeit fizzy with bubbles of humour and wit that are, in the end, I've concluded, probably the most compelling tools of argument there are... A deep enjoyment of food and its preparation is evidence of the love of the creativity of God that is both wildly expansive and precise.
