Thursday

We had a trip to Frome this afternoon.

Devizes is heaving on Thursdays but most of Frome's numerous independent shops were closed. However, the art shop was open so we enjoyed a browse and I made a couple of purchases.

Their dog followed me around continuously even though I was not wearing anything remotely connected to my dog walking. So I must smell!!

Later, we had an excellent dinner at "Walcot" and then we went to the Cheese and Grain, where we met the Devittos,  to relive the very early 80s.

I used to love Pete Wylie and the Mighty Wah and I've seen The Undertones more times than I can remember. No Feargal Sharkey (he's busy saving Britain's waterways) but the current lead singer, Paul Mcloone, has been in the job since 1999. Longer than Feargal.

I met Feargal once. He was a very skinny, spotty young man who used to strip to his Y fronts due to overheating on stage. After a show at Bath Pavillion, I had a conversation with him. I remember gushingly telling him, that was my 7th time seeing the Undertones. We saw him recently on a train to Paddington. I left him alone this time.

Pete Wylie looked like David Brent trying to look like a pop star. He was hugely entertaining! The Story of the Blues is one of my all time favourite songs. Loved every minute of his set.

Luckily, Frome is only 19 miles away and the right side of Devizes so we were home promptly.

Frome is worth a visit. The church is very Gothic. It looked like a film set.

A couple of extras.
