Saturday Self Care, Gig and Homemade Soup

I managed to have a much needed lie in this morning and slept not too badly last night, which is rare for me. Got up at 9.40am and had a couple of mugs of coffee, rested and had yoghurt and blueberries for breakfast.

Felt incredibly pained so decided to postpone my paced exercise session until tomorrow if feeling well enough.

Decided to go along to a gig at the Coach and Horses in Dumfries this afternoon, 3-6pm. It was absolutely brilliant fun and much needed me time. Grateful for makeup and Curaheat patches!

Incredibly talented musician, John Taylor-Spence, making his musical debut at the Coach, a popular music pub. I love it there, I have been going there for over twenty years, it’s always been one of my favourite places in Dumfries.

John is studying English and Music at the University of Glasgow, where I did my undergraduate MA degree in English Literature many moons ago.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t upload the two videos I recorded on my ancient smartphone but there is a photo of John performing in the extras.

He played a wonderful set of covers including Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Paulo Nutini, Mumford and Sons, Lewis Capaldi, Jeff Buckley, Pink Floyd and Ed Sheeran as well as a couple of his own compositions.

His cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s Bridge Over Troubled Water is one of the best I have heard, he played along on keyboard. I think he will go far, definitely one to watch. I’m sure he’ll be back at the Coach for future gigs.

I quit alcohol some time ago and had a couple of nonalcoholic berry and cherry ciders and a Diet Coke and enjoyed the music. Music is one of the best medicines.

This evening I had a bowl of homemade Tomato and Basil soup made with a a drizzle of balsamic vinegar, mixed herbs and topped with some garlic and herb croutons to warm me up as feeling chilly this evening. Smoked salmon on plant based bagels for dinner, topped with chives and mixed herbs.

I have caught up with messages from a couple of my best friends. I still need to do my Duolingo piano/keyboard and Ukrainian. I did some singing practice this evening to chill and listened to some music with a cuppa.

Fatigued but a better day despite higher chronic pain and even higher fatigue.

Clocks go forward at 2am :)

I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend so far. Thanks for all your kind comments, stars and hearts, still playing catch up with journals :)
