2024 Saturday — The Distant Glow
We were eating dinner, sitting next to the window and had our lights on. I could see a faint glow very low near the horizon in the distance. But mostly the sky looked dark, so I stood and moved around the dining table toward the open window where I could see without the distraction of our dining room light.
I was surprised to see the orange glow because the sun had dropped into the clouds quite a while before sunset so we did not see a sunset. And then a long time later, this glow. Watching the sky is so entertaining.
I have our house in complete disarray at the moment. Quite some time ago, I placed all our photo albums and scrapbooks in our (relatively new) sunroom and I still never dismantled them. I have no incentive to sort old photos. My kids don’t want them; the grandkids don’t either. I’m pretty sure there are about 1% of them that I want. There are so many that it is overwhelming.
So I am now going to move this massive collection downstairs (ugh!) to my indoor shed that is (technically) inside the garage and under the house. Because I am the family documentarian, I created this mess from the early years when we were young marrieds and our kids were young, and the in 1988, 1989, and 1991 our grandkids were born. I took lots of photos and wrote lots of commentary. I think it is worth noting that I had fun creating this mess. When smartphones arrived, real paper photos and photo albums and scrapbooks stopped being created.
Just writing about this helps me think I can conquer this mess little by little. But I’ve got to get the clutter cleared-out.
I’ll finish this later when I am not falling asleep in the alphabet.
