Illuminating

It’s been a lovely day. The weather was fine to begin with. Always a good start.

The wee ones were on good form and for once didn’t respond with a string of moans, groans and general objections to going for a walk around Levens Deer Park (extra). The sun was on us for the most part and a lot of people had clearly had the same idea.

We walked and talked and discussed our plans and ideas for the week ahead and it was extremely pleasant. We even saw quite a few of the aforementioned deer (one even crossing our path at one point) and a trip of fancy goats.

Following a spot of lunch, we popped into town to buy some books for a forthcoming day trip and then returned home for a little downtime - well, downtime for them, anyway - as I finally rose from my gelatinous arse and washed my filthy car.

Then it was time to execute the final portion of the day with a trip to Blackpool in Big Blue to see the illuminations. This had been requested a couple of weeks back by my mother and I thought it was a great idea. We made good time and headed to a chippy which had been recommended by a colleague - rightly so, it was delicious. Bentleys at the South End of the promenade, if you want to know.

When 6pm at the lights came on, my mother was underwhelmed “is that it?” and then we realised that we hadn’t yet reached the golden mile!

We then wandered all the way along to the tower itself - beautifully lit, as was the ferris wheel - and encountered a few light displays (I liked these jellyfish) before heading all the way back again. Just as we left, it started to rain!

Cracking day which has done wonders for the step count!
