I haven’t spent much time in Brisbane (capitol of Queensland). Bob used to live here but most of the inner city has changed over the years. I spent 2 hours looking at this interesting building waiting for a connection.
Julie drove us to Wynnum North station ( see extras) at 10.15am yesterday and we have just arrived home at 11.15 - 24 hours later (they don’t suffer daylight savings). We had a trip into the centre of the city where we boarded the dreaded bus for a 3.5 hour journey to Casino where we caught the overnight XPT to Sydney. The bus seemed much better, it was older and seemed to be more spacious. The bus driver was as nice as the last one was horrid. We met a lady in the city who was catching the same connection and she asked if she could tag along with us. She was a widow and spent the next 2 hours talking non stop. We didn’t mind as she was nice and we had nothing better to do. She lives in Casino and knew the only other person we knew that lived there (a good friend of Bob’s back in the 70). Our friend has since passed away.
We had an hour and a half to wait for the train and got a great private cabin, pull down beds and shower and toilet to share with one other couple of elderly ladies. I wasn’t expecting much sleep but it was good getting my feet up overnight. Bob was expecting some sleep and was disappointed. The older ladies were hilarious. Large, cumbersome and about 80. When one had to climb a very rickety ladder to get to the top bunk they got the giggles and laughed half the night. It was pretty loud but they were obviously having a great time so we didn’t mind. One had a shower and said it nearly killed her. I decided to continue on home in my same clothes thanks very much.
We had a 50min wait in Sydney and caught another XPT to Bathurst. So here we are. I have raced around and watered the garden and done a load of washing and now heading for a nana nap.
Back blip for yesterday including a rare Halloween decoration in Brisbane.
