Ventnor
There's something about this weekend and our desire to eat by the sea. Just before lunch, we decided to go to Ventnor and look around. Unlike yesterday, this journey used the regularly scheduled bus service, but there's a diversion because of some road repairs.
In the end, we were on a bus for over an hour, but it was worth it as Ventnor is a lovely town. Our lunch was backwards, as it began with ice cream from Crave Ice Cream, which PY had read was highly recommended. I stuck with simple vanilla ice cream, and it was, indeed, very good.
Then, on to The Spyglass Inn, which is right on the seafront, meaning it's always full of locals and visitors seeking a meal or a drink with seaside scenery. We were lucky to get a spot in the conservatory-like room with a lot of natural light and a direct sea view. The rest of the interior gives traditional pub vibes but lacks a lot of natural light and views. I had scampi, and PY had a salad, which was large and full of flavour. Although my food was great, I think the salad won.
The town is nestled within a steep hillside, giving it a picturesque setting with dramatic cliffs and scenic coastal views. We took a trip up one of the hills to see the view, resulting in this panoramic picture of the coast.
