Raked
The week started on The Island; I walked along the seafront and back. It just managed to nudge my exercise tracker to the 35-minute mark, so I cleared that early. The beach was being 'raked' (or whatever that machine does). The litter and seaweed are removed, and a (more-or-less) pristine beach is left behind.
It's been a quiet day at work. I joined the 'Kanban 101' at lunchtime and really wished I hadn't, but I didn't want to appear rude and drop off.
Agile software development is fond of its various methodologies. My team uses Scrum, which is supposed to allow iterative progress using sprints. Kanban, an alternative, focuses on visualising work in progress and optimising flow to enhance efficiency and flexibility. But I think a lot of it is a meaningless soup of words. I noted last week that I do not like all the 'process' discussions regarding work, and agile evangelists can be the worst. We just have work to do.
PY took the curtains to the shop that handles the alterations so we would not have a large drape of fabric on the floor. We debated whether to let them trail on the floor or hang just above. It became a discussion about winter draughts. We tested with pins and concluded that hanging just above the new carpet is much nicer.
The walk-ferry-train route back to London began just after 6 p.m. and concluded by 9:45 p.m. It felt a bit longer than usual, and I don't know why.
