Soap cutting
Yesterday the tallow, that had been made a few months ago, had an outing from the cupboard and some of it was turned into the first bars of soap and after sitting for 24hours they are now ready to be cut up and portioned ready to be left to harden for a month. I had no idea it all took so long or was so hazardous in the process. . the lye was handled extremely cautiously. This one smells delicious and has lavender, bergamot and cedar essences in it.
Today is another grey damp kind of day.. hugely grateful for every day we don't have heavy rain so that the river might return to safe navigation levels once more and so that my daughter can get back in to the boat and onto a canal soon. We have achieved lots while she has been here so that has been a bonus.
I have found someone to talk to me about quilting my various quilts so I am hopeful that I will get at least one finished by here soon.
