Farewell not goodbye

You have met Susan's friend Katy before when Susan got her new car in 2011. These two have now had to say their goodbyes. Katy and Susan have been friends since we arrived in the Borders in 2001. Katy lives opposite us at the riding stables. She has been a popper in all these years - even when Susan was in South Africa on her gap year, Katy popped in to make sure I was ok.

When Susan went to South Africa, Katy brought her 12 envelopes, one to opened each month. Inside she had written letters about their friendship and in number 12 was the reminder that the adventure was about to be over and that home beckoned and although Susan would be sad, Katy would be happy!

Katy and my good friends came down for dinner tonight - mousakka, garlic bread and salad, strawberries and cheeses. Yum! Great fun and great company. Happy sadness.
