Yes I know…
…predictable. I might be out of step with other people but I’m not particularly fond of Halloween. To me, this time of year (at least when I was young) was the remembrance of Guy Fawkes and the plot to blow up Parliament. We would construct a ‘Guy Fawkes’ from old clothes, wheel it around the neighbourhood begging for a ‘penny for the Guy’. There would be a big bonfire in the garden and fireworks (I loved the sparklers), then a supper of jacket potatoes, sausages and baked beans. Halloween was something they celebrated in America.
I can see why children love Halloween so much, who doesn’t love dressing up and spooky stories when one is a child but I feel it is way too commercial and just not traditional…and, well, just everywhere. Bah humbug!
My photo was taken at the cafe in the Wells Maltings. M is exhibiting his paintings at the art & craft show there and was due to be the ‘steward’ on duty today but he’s still suffering with his cold so I took his place. I’m out of the habit of being on my feet all day. I like walking and don’t sit down much during the day but standing around is not quite so easy. However, I was very glad to help out and chatted to some lovely people.
