Roads
All roads led to Keswick today, old and new ones. The main road to Keswick is the A66 and there are parts of the old A66 that make nice walks. This particular photo is taken from the road leading to Thornthwaite at what used to be the Swan Hotel. The building is still there, but it no longer a hotel. The Fell is Barf and the white statue is the 'Bishop of Barf. Painted white it is a reminder of a fella who though he could ride a horse to the top. Of course he had had a few drinks in the hotel at the bottom!!
I had decided to take more photos of autumn colours before they disappear and to look along these old roads for colour.
