November in Northumberland

More hassles with travel! I tried to book a hotel for Jenny and me for our annual trip away and after I paid a message came up saying “for technical reasons we have not been able to make your booking and your payment will be refunded within 24 hours.” Grrrr!

However we have sorted the ski trip thing. We are going from Birmingham as the hotel and free parking is only £30 more than just the parking at Manchester. And it’s only a 12 minute walk to the airport so no waiting in the cold for a bus.

Ailie and I had a good 6 miles on the beach from Warkworth to the Aln estuary and back by the dunes as the tide had come in. What’s unusual about the blip? It was so warm we were in t shirts. November on a Northumberian beach - rare even in summer. It was delightful.

Not so delightful for the people who had to be rescued by coastguards from the Holy Island causeway. People just don’t believe the information about safe crossing times when they leave the island, as it looks fine there, but the deepest part is when they are almost back at the mainland. Their car floated away out to sea.

As we were driving through Alnwick we stopped so that I could go and buy the tickets for The Outrun in person - having been unsuccessful on-line. (Mr C assure me it’s not be being dopey with technology but I’m getting fed up with the time wasting. It’s all to save the business money and not for the benefit of customers. I’m taking Ros as she’s in need of a treat after a terrible time coming off the prescription morphine after her hip operation.

Carol had a Friday Fizz gathering from 4-6 for women friends. It was lovely to have a jolly time with interesting people.

I’m reading an unexpectedly good book called “Managing Expectations” by Minnie Driver. It was well thought of by the 3 reviewers in A Good Read.

Oh and when I got back I found an email from the hotel thanking me for booking!
