Autumn Reflections
A much more active day today so I guess the vaccinations have kicked my immune system into action and it's done its work.
Lots of outside work done. The campervan is now parked for winter. Getting it into its winter place is quite tricky. One front wheel is over the edge of the slope, supported on a double plank and a few bricks. This leaves room for the snow clearing machine to get by with a fair margin for error.
The trees Mike and I cut down a few days back are now sawed into lengths and stored on the edge of the garden. The smaller branches and twigs are collected and hidden away.
The garden furniture is now in its winter storage too.
The water butts are drained. But before the draining I took this picture showing a reflected half-cloudy sky and sunlight, with the two leaves to symbolise autumn.
On Sunday we may have a very little snow but otherwise the ten-day forecast shows unusually mild weather with temps up to 9 or 11°C and dry. So when we go away I'll leave the water butts in place and hope they don't freeze before we get back.
The final activity today was packing. What will the weather be like in the UK? Probably a bit warmer and wetter than here, but still not exactly t-shirt weather... As usual I'll work in layers so I'm prepared for all temperatures, with a waterproof jacket as the outer layer.
The big fieldfare flock I wrote about yesterday seems to have completely disappeared. Have they gone south or are they hiding from today's stormy winds? There are plenty of rowan berries if they return, or if the waxwings arrive.
