From The Highest Village To Charred Nachos

I started today with a strong coffee - we've resurrected our Senseo coffee machine from the back of our kitchen cupboard where it has sat unused for at least a year as we've just managed to source the coffee pods it takes online as they no longer sell them in shops. After a good clean and some initial grumbling it's now working perfectly and I really savoured my first hot, strong coffee sitting reading a photography magazine. My idea of early morning nirvana!
Once we had retuned from a suitably caffeine fuelled run we decided on a micro trip to Ide Hill, supposedly the highest village in Kent, as we'd seen it recently highlighted on a programme on Channel 5 called "Kent: The Garden of England".
It was a lovely scenic drive up to the Greensand Ridge (part of the North Downs) upon which the village sits atop but sadly the weather wasn't playing ball on this occasion as it was pouring down by the time we arrived so we just had a quick very sodden walk through the village green and churchyard before we had to call it quits. The village is supposed to have spectacular views across the Weald of Kent but we couldn't seem to locate these either or capture a single image so our micro trip was a bit of an epic fail on all counts!
To console ourselves we stopped at The King's Head at Bessels Green for a pint and what turned out to be a very small portion of chips each all for the princely sum of £25!
Still damp and now out of pocket we decided to take the cross country route back home via Ightham, Shipbourne, Hadlow and Mereworth before stopping off for some supplies to make tonight's dinner of charred squash nachos - the result of which you can see in today's blip and is my image of last resort as I'd seen nothing else all day.
Thankfully the nachos got a good review from the rest of the family and we had a laugh about our very wet and not inexpensive micro trip!
