Blackheath Olympics
Blackheath started off cold and drizzly for today's annual Rhododendron Festival.
Despite the fact that the event is much smaller than in the past, there was still a respectable procession and much activity in the park, mostly queuing for food. We gave up and went home for instant noodles.
It was very entertaining watching the Australian Titles of Roof Bolting and Coal Shovelling. (I'm not sure if the event is actually held anywhere else.)
With my dodgy back I can't think of anything sillier than trying to be the fastest to shovel half a ton of coal. Apparently there was also a women's section but I didn't see any taking part.
That was followed by a fascinating roof bolting competition (extra). Amazing teamwork and, as they said, that's why miners are well paid.
Mr isbi then attended The Office so I was able to load a Flickr set.
Thanks to davidc and his Editor for coordinating and hosting Silly Saturday in memory of Admirer.
