Napping Tabbycat Interlude
As the temperatures turn colder, we have been seeing more of the neighbor kitty, LGK (Little Gray Kitty), also known as Stryker. LGK has a pretty serious bromance going on with my husband. They have been known to sit for hours on end on the front porch or in the yard, enjoying each other's company. We keep a water bowl for him on the front porch.
It was a sunny afternoon heading into a cold night that would feature the heaviest frost we've had yet, as well as the much-dreaded clock change. We've been babying along two tomato plants and a pot of osteospermum and a tuberose. As dusk fell, we would move them all up to the overhang by the garage door, and cover them all with blankets and towels to save them from the frost.
So yeah, it was going to get cold, and frosty, and time would change, and all of that. But it was a lovely afternoon and so we sat in the sun in the yard. LGK showed up and tried to take over our chairs. Sometimes we put out a chair for him with his own towel or blanket on to sit on. This time, my husband tossed a cushion for him to lie on on the ground, a few inches from my husband's feet.
As I was sitting there, the cat arranged himself on the pillow and started making biscuits in the air with his front paws. Air bissies! So cute! So I ran inside to get my camera. Of course, the biscuit making was done before I got back, but I did indeed discover a torpid tabbycat lying in the sun, eventually snoring away.
So in case you might need something calming and happy-making today, please enjoy this napping tabbycat interlude. Our soundtrack song is Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris, with Beyond My Wildest Dreams. It's from their album All the Roadrunning, which I highly recommend.
