Autumn leaves
I slept better last night - yay! But when I woke up and saw it was grey, yet again, I thought how much I dislike these grey days. It feels so oppressive to have this grey hanging over us all the time, what a miserable autumn this is turning out to be. While the autumn colours are lovely, they are not spectacular without some golden light to really show them off.
We had a walk in the woods again this morning, and then went to Gavin's golf club to play golf. It is so beautifully maintained that you don't even get muddy shoes, and the fairways are like a carpet! Thank goodness I was playing with a lime green ball or else I would never have found it in the gloomy light. It was a very enjoyable 9 holes of golf and then back home again.
After reading overwhelmingly positive reviews about the TV show Rivals, based on Jilly Cooper's book, I decided to subscribe to Disney+ just to watch it. the subscription is inexpensive and I will unsubscribe when I have finished watching it. It has been described as a 'bonkfest' and I wasn't sure it wouldn't just be silly, but after I got over my initial criticisms of all the sex as the answer to everything, I realised it was a very clever satire of the upper classes in addition to having an exciting plot that soon sucks you in. I really enjoyed it and recommend it! I also watched the movie Lee last night which I found excellent, Kate Winslett is remarkable as Lee Miller, the model turned war-time documentary photographer.
