Misty Tarn

Despite the promise of lighter cloud during the day it remained persistently cloudy. It did not stop us going out first to Coniston then to Ambleside. While it was a Sunday in November the place was heaving so we ended up heading out of the town to find a place to park and have lunch.

We ended up at the 17th century Badger Bar at Rydal. We ate outside as the place was very busy and enjoyed a lovely lunch. Each plate was polished off, including the kid’s Sunday roast dish! We did not do the walk to Rydal Cave - another time - but instead headed to Tarn Hows. My wife and I were there on the 27 March 2019 (see extra for that day on Blipfoto). Today was also grey and even mistier but the air was much more still so we had some lovely reflections.

Once again my wife used a motorised vehicle to “walk” round. Our grandsons ran the first half hour of the walk and then got pushed in the buggy for most of the rest of the trip.

A lovely afternoon and on the way back to our holiday house we passed several fields with more pheasants than I think I have ever seen together.
