Bonfire and no fireworks

The November working party down at the allotment where we sorted out a vacant plot, dug out two huge tree stumps and burned a whole heap of wood and other material that had been accumulating on the site over the past few months. Oh! And there was a delivery of manure.

A very pleasant and sociable event was rounded off with a barbecue with plenty of onions, sauce and mustard. There were some lettuce leaves, tomatoes, clementines and grapes to offset the excellent sausages and burgers.

Well done to everyone who turned up to help and organise the food.

No hedgehogs were found in the woodpile. We started the fire on a new space away from the enormous heap and fed it from the heap. The fact that there were not any hedgehogs was good but also as they are such and endangered species.
