Fire and Water

Compared with previous years there have been very few bangs and crackles echoing through the darkness in the lead up to Guy Fawkes night. I'm not sure why - perhaps the shock of the budget and the expense of fireworks, or fewer retail outlets, or more pets. 
Usually the bonfire and modest light display at the Sailing Club is accommpanied by others around the Lake,but we were the only ones creating reflections in the water. Hot dogs, home-made toffee, soup and sparklers added to the enjoyment though and it wasn't a late night.
