“Parasic Park”
We planned a more leisurely day today. Originally we were going to take the train to Versailles but after our Montmartre tourist crush yesterday we opted for more local buses. This one took us on a tour of some of the 19th century grand railway termini. We were aiming for Les Jardines Botanique.
This botanical oasis was an antidote to the cobbles and trottoires of the City. We saw Jays, Great Tits and the ubiquitous Parakeets among the trees and shrubs. The palm houses were groaning with tropical delights. Outside the Jurassic models were multiplying in readiness for a winter illuminated trail.
On our way to a bistro lunch in the narrow streets of the Ile de Cite we watched elegant ballroom dancing on the quays. After lunch we saw inline bladers of all ages showing off their skills on the Pont des Fleurs!
As the sun began to set we photographed some iconic Art Nouveau features before trundling back on the Metro to the hotel.
Another 10k of steps today justified a final meal in the restaurant we had enjoyed most during our 4 night French sojourn.
