forbidden fruit

I really, really, really fancy an apple.  Really.  But I can’t have one.  Not at the moment.  Apples are banned.  

There are other food stuffs that I’m currently banned from eating.  They’re the sort of things that would be on any healthy eating list - pulses, grains, seeds, nuts ……  things that I eat all the time.  I ponder on this as I sup a cup of liquid drain-cleaner.

Tomorrow I am having a colonoscopy.  This will be the fifth since cancer and I first became acquainted many years ago.  I guess I should be used to it by now, but I still find it a real pain in the backside.  Which perhaps is why I’m having the colonoscopy.

And while I'm lying on my side in the colonoscopy suite, Anniemay will be on the other of the hospital, having an injection in her eye.  She did get to eat the apple though.
