First of all, thank you blippers for your messages of support yesterday.  I’m pleased - and relieved - to find out that there’s no sign of the cancer returning.  There is still problem to sort out, but at least it’s not that.

Yesterday was stressful for both of us because of logistics as much as the procedures we were each dealing with.  Anniemay was due at the Eye Clinic at around the same time as I was watching Whose Bowel is it anyway? on the big screen.

Both of us were having some sort of sedation and so neither of us would be allowed to drive home afterwards.  The Eye Clinic ensured that Anniemay would be finished in time to meet up with me when I was discharged.  We more or less walked out of the hospital straight into a waiting taxi.

Both procedures were also handled with incredible efficiency.  The problem with Anniemay’s eye was identified by an optician at a routine eye test and fast-tracked for hospital treatment within 2 weeks.

My colonoscopy was dealt with on the 2WW Pathway (2 week wait) which means that a patient with possible cancer symptoms would be seen by relevant hospital department within 2 weeks of a GP referral.  Thank you NHS.
