Trixie's Adventures

Lazy human....................

We came back to Edinburgh from St Ives about 10 days ago and ever since then my human has been absolutely exhausted. She's done the things she's had to do, like walk me, but when she hasn't had anything to do, she's just been sleeping. She doesn't know what's wrong with her. Or if indeed there is actually anything wrong with her. Admittedly, she's had a cold for the last week, but she doesn't think a cold should be making her feel this bad.

Today she took me out for my morning walk to 'Morningside Park' and then I stayed home alone while she went into town to get her Covid/flu vaccinations and have a mooch around. She came home, made a bacon sandwich and didn't share and then we walked over to the 'Meadows' to meet Max, the five month old Schnauzer.

Ann's friend, Susi, is looking after Max for a few days. He was a very nice fluffy little Schnauzer, but OMG, he was a bit vocal. He kept barking. And jumping up. And bouncing around all over the place. Ann says she'd forgotten what hard work puppies were. He wasn't allowed off his lead and I think he was a bit jealous of the fun I was having with my ball. On the way to meet Max I'd found a very nice yellow ball. Edinburgh doggies are soooooo careless with their balls. That's four I've found in the last week. It wasn't manky at all, so Ann put it into her pocket and carried it for me because my mouth isn't big enough to carry two balls. Ann gave Max the ball to play with but he didn't have a clue what to do with it. Anyway, I pretty much ignored Max because I had my ball to play with and when I'm playing with my ball, I'm totally focused on it and don't take any notice of anything else. Though I did snarl at him when he got a bit too close to my ball.

Got home at about 2pm and Ann's intention was to lie on the sofa and watch TV but she wrapped herself in a blanket and fell asleep until 4pm surely that's not normal? when she took me out for another little walk. Now she's making a big pot of chicken soup but she knows she won't fancy eating it once it's finished. Our freezer is full of stuff she just can't be bothered to eat.

Actually thinking about it; she thinks she might be suffering from SAD (seasonal affective disorder). Right up until when we left St Ives we were both using the sun terrace a lot because it was always warm out there, so I just used to lie snoozing and Ann would sit and read magazines or do puzzles. Unfortunately much as we love our weeny, teeny balcony here, it's not really conducive to sitting out in November. In fact we've only been out there once (on the day we came back) when Ann said, 'Trixie, I need to spend a couple of hours sorting out the pots & the solar powered lights', and then we came indoors and haven't had the motivation to go out there again. Lol!

And also, from my human's point of view........................ she doesn't get the same human interaction that she gets in St Ives. For example, when I go out for my walks in St Ives, Ann always stops to talk to someone. We could walk all day here and not meet anyone we know. It's just different, I know, but trying to organise stuff to do with friends is a major operation because everyone lives in different areas of the city. Life was so much simpler, a month ago in St Ives, when someone posted on the Whatsapp group at 10pm – 'It's going to be a lovely morning, meet on the beach at 8am if you fancy a swim/dog walk'. First, one has to decide what to do. (And normally it's eating & drinking, because unfortunately Ann's Edinburgh friends don't really do much else.)  And then you have to decide where to go and obviously the choice is vast because it's a city. …................It's just a different way of life. Ie, Ann went out with friends the day after we got back here (but she'd organised it a couple of months in advance) and then when they tried to arrange a date for another lunch, the first day they were all free was 6th December???!!!!

There's loads of friends that we haven't seen since we came back to Edinburgh, and my human knows that if she could be bothered to make the effort and organise something, they'd probably want to come out with us.  But my human is fed up of being the one that has to organise everything.  And she's tired................. which is why she's spending a lot of time lying on the sofa. Lol!!!

Anyway enough ranting.................... My human has made the decision that St Ives is going to be our main home (for as long as she's fit enough to walk up all the hills. Lol!!!) so we're only going to be here for a few weeks while my human gets her life organised.

…..............Let's hope her energy levels perk up soon bit?!!!
